Autonomous On-board Mission Planning System

The Autonomous On-board Mission Planning System (AOMPS) is responsible for autonomous mission planning of the satellite (e.g. recording of a specific region). The target is to show that the satellite is able to make real-time autonomous mission planning decisions without having to involve the ground control station.
To do that, the software independently evaluates system data of the satellite, requests (e.g. a specific target area is to be recorded), and currently planned tasks. This kind of information is used to adapt the system & payload planning to the new conditions by means of a real-time process .

The BayernSat AOMPS is a further development of the current mission planning system in the German Space Operations Centre (GSOC) of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The existing system is used as a basis for an autonomous system that is able to make decisions independently.
